Crispy Dark and Garamerica rijsttafel are two favorite menus offered at Garamerica Restaurant. Both domestic and foreign tourists love traditional menus presented in modern touch. They taste good and delicious so that can be enjoyed by the tongue of people from different countries. Garamerica Restaurant is located at The Sunset Hotel, precisely on Jalan Dewi Sri Kuta. The menus on offer are very diverse ranging from the Indonesian, Western and Chinese food as well as the other kinds of cuisine. “Of the dozens of menus, the Crispy Dark and Garamerica rijsttafel are the most salable here. They taste the most delicious,” said Chef Wana.
Luxuriating in the Crispy Dark was indeed giving a crispy texture and really offered Balinese traditional flavor. The flesh was not fishy because it was made from a native Balinese duck. Moreover, it was enriched with selected spices brought in from mountain ranges cultivated by countryside farmers. “Cooking method is applying the original Balinese tradition, so that it yields a delicious flavor,” added Wana.
A portion of Crispy Dark is composed of Balinese vegetables, raw sambal and ground sambal with distinctive aroma. More interestingly, it will be more enjoyable and can generate a better taste when the serving is savored by hand as in the tatami (lesehan) style. Meanwhile, the Garamerica rijsttafel menu is presented in magibung concept, a tradition of eating together in the Karangasem County, East Bali. The dining atmosphere is getting more comfortable because one portion can be enjoyed by couple or family. Therefore, the familial ambience looks so intimate. Each portion contains fried duck, twisted satay, grilled fish, simmered beef, vegetables and crackers.
Meanwhile, General Manager of The Sunset Hotel & Restaurant explained the Garamerica Restaurant was open every day from 07:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. The name of restaurant was inspired by two spices namely salt (Indonesian, garam) and pepper (merica). “Both spices are essential to create the most basic taste. Therefore, through this Garamerica Restaurant we want to give the impression of different meals,” he said.
Garamerica was established concurrently with The Sunset Hotel in June 2011. It has the capacity of 100 seats and offers menu packages ranging from IDR 50,000 to IDR 250,000. Among the existing menus, more highlights were given to Chinese and Italian food. Aside from foreign tourists, domestic tourists also often eat here.
