Street Art Class with Martin Dezer

Street Art Class with Martin DezerThe students of the Indonesia Institute of the Arts (ISI) had a chance to learn about the art of graffiti with Martin Dezer. He is a terrific young graffiti artist and renowned in the world of graffiti. He has given his extraordinary works in various cities in France, Belgium and India. Dezer also gets involved in Graffiti Team, a world graffiti organization. He is open-minded and very dynamic artist and has also collaborated with musicians of the world.

As the realization of cooperation between the ISI Denpasar and the Alliance Française (AF) Bali, the AF facilitated the French graffiti artist to share knowledge of graffiti in the ISI Denpasar. The activity entitled Street Art Class with Martin Dezer aimed at giving the opportunities to younger generation, especially the students of the ISI Denpasar, to channel inspiration while enriching the arts and could see the potential behind the world of street art. Besides, the activity could improve the friendship between the ISI Denpasar and AF Bali. This activity took place for three days until the end of April. It also involved the Djamur Community. It lasted from the morning till night where the students of various departments in the ISI Denpasar participated in the execution of the graffiti works. In addition, it was also filled in with the screening of short film of the Djamur Community featuring the Street Art.

Object of the expression for the graffiti arts was on the wall in the north parking lot of the ISI Denpasar. The enthusiasm of the students was very apparent when the activity was taking place. They seriously followed the direction given and diligently worked on the graffiti to complete it on time. The activity was supported entirely by the institution and under control of the supervisory lecturer Dewa Putu Gede Budiarta. The works of graffiti immortalized social phenomena occurred in the community as well as social critics. (BTN/015)
