A total of 30 dance studios in Buleleng County will enliven the Buleleng Festival (Bulfest) 2014. Those selected dance studios with unique and distinctive achievement have never appeared on the show in the previous Bulfest. Alternately, those dance studios will perform their artistic creations at the Puri Seni Sasana Budaya Hall.
Chairman of the Festival Committee, Gede Suyasa, said that dozens of those dance studios were selected through a rigorous team meeting. The Festival Committee with the Buleleng Culture and Tourism Agency conducted an inventory of the existing dance studios in Buleleng and explored more about the excellence owned by the respective dance studio.
“What they show off is actually the excellence owned by their studio. Probably, studio A has excellence in the shadow puppets, studio B in gag and studio C in bleganjur gamelan orchestra. Well, each dance studio should have a difference among the existing studios, so they become more innovative,” said Suyasa after holding a meeting to finalize the performance of dance studio, Tuesday (Jul 15).
The dance studios that would make their performance included the Wiji Swara featuring shadow puppet, Budi Manik Winangun from Jagaraga village featuring gong kebyar gamelan music, Gita Shanti Budaya from Sawan village featuring geguntangan and pesantian psalmodies. Meanwhile, SMAN 1 Singaraja high school would feature modern drama. “So the performance at the Sasana Budaya will not only include the traditional art, but also modern art,” he said. (BTN/015)
