Tanah Lot to Organize ‘3-Day Event 2012’
Tanah Lot tourist attraction becoming the prominent destination in Tabanan will host the Tanah Lot 3-Day Event. Such cultural event will be held for three days (November 1-3, 2012). “Through this event we will feature the distinctive cultural and artistic diversity of Tabanan region,” said Assistant Manager of Tanah Lot tourist attraction, I Wayan Sudiana, in the media briefing at the Ocean Restaurant, Saturday (Oct 6).
According to him, the art and culture in Tabanan had its own particularities so that they could become a potential as tourist attraction. Thousands of artists would be involved to give birth to young humanists with an outstanding achievement. In addition, it was also intended to save the endangered and rare arts. “It is important as a reflection of the aesthetical value and character formation that has been recognized by international community,” he added.
On that account, explained Sudiana, the Tanah Lot 3-Day Event highlighted the theme “Always Remembered.” With the philosophy, his party expected that Tanah Lot would always be remembered by everyone who ever made a visit and could bring in influence to come back. “With this event, Tanah Lot is expected to be more remembered because it presents various interesting tourist attractions,” he hoped.
The event planned to be opened by the Regent of Tabanan will be filled with a variety of arts and culture. They include the performance of Kid Gong Kebyar, Women Gong Kebyar, Barong in combination with tektekan, Creative Dance, Slonding and Ramayana Ballet.
In addition, it will also be graced with the exhibition showcasing the leading products of food industry, craft, design, photography, documentation of Tanah Lot and painting. For the craft exhibition, the committee will show off the typical craft of Tanah Lot namely the monkey statue made of coconut fiber. “In the past, this statue always decorated the object, but had disappeared as lacked of regeneration. Now, we’ll introduce it again,” he said.
This energetic man added that the activity was also an effort to promote the Tanah Lot, so as to increase the domestic and foreign tourist visits. “During this event takes place, we are targeting to draw 6,000-7,000 visitors per day or an increase of 30 percent from the usual days,” he revealed.
