Badung Regent to Confer Award at ITB Berlin

Badung Regent to Confer Award at ITB BerlinThe Regent of Badung AA Gede Agung was scheduled to attend the Internationale Tourismus Börse (ITB) Berlin 2014 held in Messe Berlin, on March 5-9, 2014. In contrast to previous years, in the implementation of the ITB Berlin this year, the Regent of Badung will award travel agencies including the airlines in Germany which have contributed a great deal to bring in European tourists, especially from Germany to Bali.

A number of parties considered this measure as a smart move. The presence of Regent Gde Agung and the award conferment are considered to be effective in the effort to foster the trust and increase the number of tourist arrivals. Spokesperson of Badung government, AA Gede Raka Yuda, explained in the Badung Civic Center that amidst the implementation of the ITB Berlin, Regent Gde Agung would invite tour operators, travel agencies including the airlines. “As a host, Regent Gde Agung will give appreciation or award to travel agencies and local airlines for the number of tourists contributed to the Badung in particular and Bali in general,” he said.

Raka Yuda said the participation of Badung Regent in the ITB Berlin was at the invitation of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. Badung Regent has also received permission from the Minister of Home Affairs to attend the event. In his visit schedule, the Regent of Badung would also include the Regional Handicraft Council (Dekranasda), tourism associations, artists and promotion team of the Badung Government Tourism Office (BGTO), Chief of the BGTO and Chairman of the Badung Craftsmen Association. “The arts taken will jazz up the main stage of Indonesian pavilion at the ITB Berlin. There, Badung will promote tourist destinations owned as well as present typical souvenir of Badung denoting the results of craftsmen mentored by Dekranasda,” he said.

The ITB Berlin is the world’s largest tourism exhibition which this year will be attended by 170,000 visitors, 113,000 tour operator associations and 11,000 companies engaged in tourism business from 180 countries. The measure of Badung Regent to attend the ITB Berlin and reward the tour operators and the airlines was considered the right measure in increasing the number of tourist arrivals to Bali from Europe, especially Germany.
Executive Director of the Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants Association (PHRI) of Badung Chapter, Made Sulasa Jaya, revealed the presence of public officials in international exhibition was very important to convince the buyers, considering the authority keeping and maintaining the tourism infrastructure was the government. “The presence of the heads of the government will also boost tourist confidence that have not visited Bali. Measure of the regent to provide rewards for travel agencies and the airlines that have contributed greatly in increasing the number of tourist visit to Bali especially Badung is also a smart move of the regent. It is expected to effectively encourage the increase in the number of tourist arrivals,” he said. (BTN/055)
