Resort Manager of The Elysian Boutique Villa Hotel, Made Subrata, is one of the figures known to be resilient by his team. Every day, the man born on August 18 having the hobby in sport and never getting tired of traveling always motivates his team through briefing. As a result, he can establish a loyal team that has commitment and dedication to advancing the Elysian.
Made Subrata realizes that every leader has a different leadership style. “To me, happy employee results in happy guests. Every afternoon, I never miss to motivate, encourage and evaluate the staff. I always want to give authority to staff to make decision, act, talk and then make it happen. In essence, everything done must be positive, constructive, well directed and coordinative,” said the man who had work experience at the InterContinental, Hilton and Sheraton Kuta.
To build staff motivation, he added, he had a special training program every Thursday where each department head should motivate and refresh the knowledge of each team. “We also have English class for all departments provided by guest instructor. It is intended to enhance their knowledge and self-confidence,” he said.
According to him, enhancing the potential of staff by providing good training on hard skills or soft skills was a key to success. “Our staff here is very solid and close to guests. Even, most of them have been working since this villa was opened. So, the repeater guests who stayed here have already known them well,” he said.
Over time, the challenge of working in tourism field is getting greater. On that account, the quality and facilities should be maintained to keep the image of the accommodation. “No matter how fancy and good the villa or hotel is human resources in it are very important and need to be given the attention.
