2014, Pond Revetment of Taman Ayun To Be Arranged

2014 Pond Revetment of Taman Ayun To Be ArrangedApparently the Badung government never stops to perform infrastructure arrangement. After making arrangement at Central Kuta, Legian and Seminyak in 2013 worth over IDR 300 billion, then in 2014 it will also make arrangement to the median park at the intersection of the Udayana University. Even, it now also makes the arrangement to the pond in the area of Taman Ayun having become a World Cultural Heritage.

Follow-up to the arrangement of the pond at Taman Ayun poses the commitment of the Badung government to always preserve the subak becoming a world cultural heritage. The pond arrangement at the Taman Ayun irrigating more than 100 hectares of paddy fields in three subak areas namely the Subak Batan Badung, Subak Batan Asem and Subak Beringkit is done considering the Taman Ayun revetment has been eroded. Even, such condition has caused the collapse of a number of rare trees and resulted in the siltation of the pond. If this condition persists, it will reduce the flow of water irrigating the three subak areas.

It was revealed in the socialization of the development plan for pond revetment at Taman Ayun in the Gosana Meeting Room, the Bandung Civic Center, Monday (Jan 27). The socialization guided by the Head of Badung Highways and Irrigation Agency Ida Bagus Surya Suamba was attended by the Regent of Badung AA Gde Agung, Regional Secretary Kompyang R. Swandika as well as other relevant officials.
The Regent of Badung Gde Agung asserted that the socialization on the pond revetment development plan was an extremely fundamental. It was not only based on the premise that the existence of Taman Ayun area as a world cultural heritage but rather posed a real effort in meeting the water needs of subak organization, considering there was quite a lot of obstacles in meeting the water availability.

Badung has made every effort to reduce the siltation due to sedimentation along the irrigation channel that will flow through the three subak areas in the Mengwi area and irrigates over 100 hectares of paddy fields. Therefore, the pond revetment arrangement is very important and strategic. With regard to development plan, Gde Agung emphasized in order that during the construction period, the project would not interfere with the planting season of the three subak areas getting the water source from the Taman Ayun pond. Besides, it should not interfere with visitors to Taman Ayun tourist attraction and the surrounding communities through clean construction. (BTN/adv)
