The number of tourist arrival at Tanah Lot tourist attraction in 2013 reached 2,842,281 people where it has exceeded the target by 41 percent, and the net income of Tanah Lot in 2013 reached IDR 33,519,717,827.00 which rose 24.26 percent compared to the year 2012. It was revealed by the Operations Manager I Ketut Toya Adnyana amidst the meeting of the annual report at the office of the Regent of Tabanan, Wednesday (Jan 29).
The meeting was attended by Chairperson of Tanah Lot tourist attraction doubling as the Regent of Tabanan Ni Putu Eka Wiryastuti, the first Chairperson doubling the Deputy Regent Sanjaya, Chief of Beraban customary village Wayan Arwata, members of the management board as well as related regional working units (SKPD). According to Toya, when compared to the previous year, the number of tourist arrival in 2013 showed a significant increase. With the target of only 2,012,500 people, in fact it could reach 2,842,281 people where the visit was dominated by domestic travelers.
Similarly, the increase also occurred to the net income. When compared to the previous year with the income at IDR 26,974,888,597.00, the net income in 2013 reached IDR 33,519,717,827.00 showing an increase of 24.26 percent. “We’re very thankful because in fact the tourist arrival always increases each year. It should also be accompanied by the provision of more maximal infrastructure,” he said.
Toya added there were some challenges to be faced such as the less maximal infrastructure, traffic congestion and extreme climate change. On that account, there were several short-term programs to be implemented like the improvement of area road, installation of sidewalk on track at Tanah Lot, expansion of parking area and implementation of annual promotion. “We attempt to make improvement at all levels so that the target of tourist arrival in 2014 can reach 2,153,375 people and the revenue target of at IDR 40.66 billion can also be achieved,” he added.
Meanwhile, Regent Eka on the occasion hoped that travelers visiting Tanah Lot could also stay and did not only make a visit and then passed by. According to her, reference of the management should also be clear and not half-hearted and the assets should be managed professionally.
Regent Eka proposed the establishment of working group at Tanah Lot that would discuss about the preparation of strategy arrangement and financial management. “Performance of the working group will be reviewed twice a year. Hopefully, the arrangement in the future can be better. Since the Tanah Lot poses a great potential owned by Tabanan, it is expected to improve the welfare of all the people,” she affirmed. (BTN/015)
