Buleleng Northern Lights

Sambangan Village, North Bali, Other Side of Bali Island

The Tourism and Cultural Office of Buleleng Regency announced ‘on the spot promotion’ for Sambangan Village, Sukasada Sub district on Friday (15/10). This promotional program was intended to carry Sambangan Village as an “agro and cultural” tourism area. “We’d like to formally establish the agrotourism potential of this village,” said Chief of Tourism and Cultural Office of Buleleng, Ida Bagus Puja Erawan, S.H. in front of foreign tourists and media that covered the event.
According to Puja Erawan, Bali is immensely favored so many visitors come. Yet, Bali is not only Kuta, Sanur and Ubud, but there is also Buleleng at the northern region. With the extent of 1,370 square kilometers, Buleleng is the vastest regency in Bali.
Tourism potential of Buleleng comprises natural tourism attractions with its alluring panorama. Then there are agricultural fields and handicraft products that are widely sold at tourist resorts. Buleleng has two lakes, namely Buyan and Tamblingan. Similarly, tropical rainforests and a coastline spreads out from its western region to the east. Tranquil sea of Buleleng retains widely varied fish, including ‘playful’ dolphins that are easily found at all times. “Just like this Sambangan Village, we can enjoy dissimilar splendors of nature, through trekking package with its 9 waterfalls. In the meantime, for souvenirs, residents have prepared various kinds of handicraft,” he affirmed.
The promotion was jazzed up with Joged Bumbung dance while enjoying typical Balinese cuisines like roasted suckling pig and satay. Meanwhile, the musical strains of angklung bambu (bamboo xylophone) by local troupe continued to accompany during the passage of visitors in the village.
Marrianne Andriesse, a Dutch visitor who joined in the program said,” The view of this village is impressively beautiful. I’ve never seen such a beautiful view at other places in Bali. It needs promoting furthermore, so Northern Bali will be progressively popular.”
“On the Spot Promotion” is an initial pace of regional government of Buleleng to promote its region to foreign visitors. Meanwhile, the selection of Sambangan Village, according to Puja Erawan, was based on the reason that this village had not been well organized as yet, whereas, apart from having natural beauty, its community was also capable of conserving their indigenous tradition. So, the rural communities, who are mostly farmers, are also productive in producing handicraft products. “But, the most important thing, its community is receptive and welcoming strangers,” he stated emphatically.
The Executive Manager of Shanti Nature Meditation & Trekking Center, Sambangan Northern Bali, I Gede Budasi, expected that the opening of the tourism resort of Sambangan Village would be able to improve the standard of living of its community. “We are ready to provide information and guidance for tourists who make a visit. We have planned that there would be 3 package tours in this village, namely by appointing Sambangan as Trekking Center Area, Central Meditation and Honeymoon Party. The three parties are really appropriate to be developed in this village,” he added.
